The teacher and parent apps keep working. Attendance and grades are written to a database on the phone and queue there until the line returns; the app shows what is still pending. On the Institution plan the server is inside your school, so the dashboard keeps working on the school LAN even with no connection to the outside world. What genuinely needs the internet is WhatsApp sending and the AI drafts — both retry later, and neither blocks anything.

On the cloud plans, in one European data centre (Germany), encrypted in transit and at rest, backed up nightly with 30-day retention. It is never copied to a second region without you asking. On the Institution plan it is on a machine in your building and the only thing that leaves is what you switch on — WhatsApp messages and, if AI is enabled, first names plus academic facts. We publish the full list of subprocessors and keep it current.

You export it. A full JSON + CSV dump of everything — students, guardians, grades, attendance, fees, payments, receipts, documents — is a button in Settings, available at any time, not only at the end. On written request we delete your tenant within 30 days and confirm it. There is no exit fee and no hostage period; the export exists precisely so that staying is a choice.

No, and that is deliberate for version one. AiLycée records payments made in cash, by cheque, through Whish or by bank transfer, and issues a numbered PDF receipt for each one, immutable, with a QR code anyone can verify. Money never moves through us, so we never hold your funds and never need your bank credentials. Online card and Whish payment is on the roadmap behind a feature flag.

Yes, on the Institution plan. It is the same Docker images we run in our own cloud — there are no cloud-only features — on a single node with a UPS, backing up nightly to your NAS. Expect roughly $1,700–2,700 of hardware once (server, UPS, NAS) plus the $1,500/year infrastructure package for updates, backup tooling and remote support. Many schools start on the cloud and move on-prem later; the migration is an export and an import.

It is a plan feature, not a requirement, and it can be switched off for the whole school or left on for the teachers who want it. When it is on it only ever produces a draft: the teacher edits it and clicks approve, and nothing reaches a bulletin without that click. The model receives the child's first name and academic facts, never a family name, phone number or address.

Once, at the start of the contract year, on your enrolled headcount. Students who join mid-year are not re-billed until renewal, and a plan minimum applies so that very small schools are still worth supporting properly. Nothing is metered, so no one has to watch a usage counter.

You can, but we would rather you did not. The clean path is a pilot in parallel from January, migration over the summer and go-live at the September rentrée, so a full term of grades and a full fee cycle are never split across two systems.

Not for breadth — Skoolee has years of features we do not have yet. Move for the three things our first schools tell us hurt: a parent app parents actually open, attendance and grades that survive a power cut, and report-card comments that no longer eat a teacher's week. We import your existing exports and run in parallel for a term so the decision is reversible.
